Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Programs

Overview:

Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) allows skilled and semi-skilled professionals to work in Canada where employers face genuine labour shortages.

IKIC assists applicants with both LMIA-based and LMIA-exempt work permit categories.

LMIA-Based Work Permits

  • For applicants with a valid job offer supported by a positive LMIA.
  • IKIC prepares the full work permit package aligned with ESDC approvals.
  • Outcome: Employer-specific work permit valid 1–3 years.

Francophone Mobility Program

  • For French-speaking applicants working outside Quebec.
  • LMIA-exempt under IRPR R205(a); supports Canada’s Francophone communities.
  • Outcome: LMIA-exempt work permit, faster processing.

International Mobility Program (IMP)

  • LMIA-exempt options that benefit Canada’s economy and culture.
  • Covers intra-company transfers, reciprocal employment, public-policy, and charitable work.
  • Outcome: LMIA-exempt permit with flexible employer terms.

Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP)

  • For spouses/common-law partners of skilled workers (TEER 0–3) or students.
  • Outcome: Open work permit valid for the spouse’s permit duration.

Seasonal & Agricultural Work Permits (SAWP / Agricultural LMIA)

  • For applicants in farming, greenhouse, or food-production roles.
  • Agricultural LMIA work permits issued for minimum 8 months, extendable to 3 years.
  • Outcome: Employer-specific permit.

Caregiver Programs

  • Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots.
  • Gain 24 months of qualifying work to become eligible for PR.
  • Outcome: Work permit + pathway to Permanent Residency.
